I have a secret/not-so-secret thing for classical music.  When a classmate introduced me to this awesome rendering of The Planets, a series of symphonies by Gustav Holst, done entirely using synthesizers – let’s just say I was close to nerd heaven.  I love all the layers of classical music and the range of emotions – this set of symphonies is no exception and the use of unconventional instruments is so great.

Plus, wouldn’t you agree that anything you’re doing becomes more epic when you have a symphony playing?

It’s the truth.

I don’t have a video this week, as I found the tracks on SoundCloud – you’ll just have to click here to have a listen.  They’re also totally free to download as well!

I have gotten totally lost in these last few weeks for summer – trying to soak up as much of it as I can. We saw leaves changing today on our hike, can you believe it? LEAVES CHANGING.  Last time I checked, it’s still August.  Otherwise I’ve been lost in summer longer than I thought.

1. Seeing red everywhere lately.  Here’s a little pop of poppy.

2 & 3. Finally made it up to Rocky Mountain National Park. More on that to come, for sure, but it was a lovely time.  And I love this guy.

4. Those moments when it rains and is sunny at the same time.  Pure magic.

5. Raindrops on daisies.  Do you see a rain theme happening here?  It’s been excellent.  Fire danger down to moderate!

6. Husband knows the way to my heart.  Giant cookie sandwiches, obviously.

7. Took a way-too-fast trip to the Windy City to see my family and work a bit (a lot).  Greatest skyline.

8. See work reference above.  A different kind of camera than I usually use – it was an adventure to say the least!

Your pictures are incredible! And I’m going to have to tell my husband about the giant cookie sandwiches…those sound good (although he has it pretty easy…anything with sugar is the way to my heart; I’m glad I’m not diabetic)ReplyCancel

Thanks Char! I am definitely the same way when it comes to sugar 🙂 We found these at a bakery in Breckenridge, but I’m sure they’d be easy to concoct yourself. Tasty!ReplyCancel

[…] Annabelle Mintz – Her pictures she posts on her blog are definitely lovely!  She’s worthy of this award. […]ReplyCancel

Well, as I’m adjusting back to the real world from my very first work trip (ee!), I’m reminiscing about another homeward voyage.

We flew home from Turks and Caicos on the most beautiful day – it was amazing to see all of the clouds and little islands dotting the Caribbean Sea.

Clouds are some of my favorite things, I could watch the sky for hours.

Yup, my head has definitely been in the clouds lately.  How about you?

This is a continuation of our trip to Turks and Caicos : Part One / Part Two

During our vacation, our group took a boating trip out to a few snorkel spots and visited this island, where a unique species of iguana lives in a protected habitat.  Apparently they’re smaller than normal iguanas and also keen on bell peppers (who knew?)

We walked from one side of the island to the other (it’s tiny), wading in both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.  This is also where we had a few typical island treats – rum punch and conch salad, which they made fresh from raw conch meat.  It was a little strange for my liking (like a giant snail) but it was fun to try!

We’re not usually the guided tour/excursion type, but this one was definitely worth it (arranged through our hotel) and I’m glad we splurged a little!

I mean, it’s hard to have complaints when you’re on a boat in this perfect water with as much rum punch as you can handle.  We even got to take home a now-vacant conch shell.  Pretty fun!

Soaking up the most of the last bit of summer!  Fall feels so close, and yet so far.  It’s my favorite season, but despite that, I’m always a bit sad to see summer’s long, lazy days come to an end.

1. Road trip food and old-fashioned road signs.  They are a perfect match.

2. Summer breakfasts should definitely include strawberries!

3. I am unable to resist Target. These polka-dot shoes definitely happened (chalk it up to fall preparedness).

4. You’ve seen this trail already, but I couldn’t resist one more snapshot from my favorite run this week.

5. Another photo taken while running, this time the Jack Quinn’s 5K!

6. I am moderately obsessed with these – you get the soda fizz without the soda tummy ache (Am I the only one who gets those?).
