Maxi Dress Remix_Resize_Mintz

One of my true loves is packing (I know, it’s pretty strange). I take great pride in being able to travel light – in fact, I did our two week Europe trip with carry-on bags only! In honor of a remixable + stylish suitcase, I did a little watercolor sketch of a classic maxi dress styled up for the three main countries we visited on our trip: Germany, France + Spain.

What’s one of your favorite travel basics that gets great mileage in your suitcase? It just might get featured on the next 1 Item x 3 Countries post!

Hello!

How’s it been going? I was swallowed up by life for a while, the living + feeling of it. The last month has been one of intensity, both in ups + downs, learning lessons + remembering myself.  Do you ever find yourself in those seasons?  I am full of thankfulness for (and sometimes despite of) it + yet I’ve thought of you often, missing this little corner of the internet. I feel like spring is such a symbolic season, of resurrection + starting fresh.

So let’s get caught up, shall we?

1+2. I jetted off to Europe for two weeks (you’ll be hearing more about all this loveliness later this week) and boy, do I adore me some Europe. The jet lag definitely got the best of me this trip for some reason + afterwards it took quite some time to recover. But totally worth every second of those way-too-early mornings.

3. I’ve been working my way through Marie Forleo’s B-School which has been teaching me SO much + I have barely been able to keep up with the goodness. It has absorbed most of my free hours but in the best way.

4. A surprise visit from my sister for a belated celebration was just about the best birthday present a girl could ask for.

5+6. Last weekend brought me to Chicago, to help my parents move out of my childhood home – a bittersweet season! We enjoyed this place for almost 20 years + now it’s another family’s turn to get loved on here. The namesake for Evergreen Lane, it holds so many good good memories.

So, catch me up on your world! Are you enjoying this amazing springtime?

Welcome back!! You photos from Europe look amazing! Looking forward to my own whirlwind two-week trip coming up here soon. 🙂 How’s the B-School going? I’m really intrigued by it, and am considering signing up down the road sometime. Maybe next session (need that brilliant business idea first lol). Sounds like you had a fabulous spring, and here’s to an excellent summer to follow!ReplyCancel

You are awesome Amy! Thanks so much for your support 🙂 B-School is a lot to process, I will admit, and it’s a ton of work! But I am absolutely buzzing with ideas…now to find time to implement! xoReplyCancel

I always love to discover new places and hear about people’s favorite adventures – and I thought it would be fun to share those discoveries with you! So each month, I’ll feature a different blogging friend of mine they’ll share with us their two favorites, near + far.

nearfar_insideoutabout

Another Monday, another opportunity to gather a little travel inspiration for some new adventures! I know for sure that I would love to visit both of this lovely lady’s favorites. I met today’s guest, Elita of Inside, Out & About at Alt Summit back in January – we were both getting tattly’d up at one of the mini parties. She had just returned from an epic adventure to Africa + her business cards included little hand warmers made with fabric she found on her trip – how cool is that! So, without further ado, here’s Elita:

What is your favorite haunt close to home?

Bosie Tea Parlor — New York, NY

I LOVE big cities, but even this urbanite needs a little break from the hustle and bustle, every now and again. Bosie combines two of my favorite things: a ridiculously good cup of tea (+ macarons to die for) and the West Village.  Stop in for brunch, wander and shop til you drop…then, swing back by for an afternoon treat. The best!

What is your favorite far away find?

Table Mountain — Cape Town, South Africa

Hands down Cape Town is one of my favorite cities in the world.  I would visit regularly, if it weren’t so far away! Should you find yourself in town, be sure to make it Table Mountain.  You can hike, rock climb, cave…you name it, but whatever you do make it to the summit, at sunset.  First, you’ll be above the clouds; it’s a little glimpse of heaven.  Then, as the last of the suns rays push the clouds away, you’ll get gorgeous views of the city below, from the harbor in the East to the Atlantic Ocean in the West.  Take me with you!

Palmer Park 2_Mintz

Hi guys! I’m in Paris at the moment but we’re talking Colorado + mountains + springtime today here on the blog. Last week, we had the most beautiful summer-like Sunday so I just had to get a little hiking in. The weather was so ridiculously perfect, it was hard to believe that we had snow two days prior (and would have snow again two days later).

I hopped down to my old stomping grounds in the Springs for the weekend (actually, I shouldn’t say I hopped…my angel of a friend came + kidnapped me) so we chose a hiking spot I actually never had a chance to visit when I lived in town. Colorado has an affinity for awesome parks + this one is no exception. Palmer Park is nestled right in the middle of town, but you can almost pretend you’re out in the middle of nowhere. Everything just kind of disappears, until you hike to a high point and remember there are roads + houses + people out there.

I am so thankful for friendship today. Friends who will go grocery shopping with you + make pancakes with you + hike with you on those perfect Sundays. Friends who change their plans to be there for you when things get crazy. Friends who see you cry + make you laugh. I truly have the most amazing + invaluable friends. Life is so much better when you have a community around you!

I’ve been learning a lot about taking things for granted, how I don’t often (or as often as I should) stop and appreciate the fact that I live in one of the most beautiful places. I had to live here for years before I really enjoyed it + now I can’t imagine how I didn’t love it at first sight! And there are friends or loved ones that we don’t remind often enough how incredible they are + how our lives would be a whole lot emptier without them in it. I know it can come off as cliché because we hear it so much that we almost become deaf to it – but today is as good as any to appreciate the beauty we have around us, wherever we are + whoever we’re with.

So if by chance you’re presented with the perfect springtime Sunday sometime soon (this coupon is good for all days of the week though, just to be clear), you should probably play hooky + run off somewhere beautiful with someone beautiful, because it is pretty awesome to be alive.

Colorado is full of scenic drives, and this is no exception. Cory + I were on our way to Aspen, and had to drive over Independence Pass. It was July, which coincidentally is a perfect time to see wildflowers at high elevations. Things I love include, but are not limited to, a good field of wildflowers.

We were just passing through, but had to stop several times on our way up, and at the top, to take in the view. As if it really needs stating when you’re at 12,000 feet, it was windy + COLD. Amazing what a few thousand feet of elevation gain will do, right? And of course, there’s nothing like a sky full of rainclouds to add to the ambiance + chill factor. I love that in Colorado, the way TO somewhere beautiful is beautiful – the journey, not just the destination, is full of wonder + prettiness. I could drive through this state for ever + always.

Oh, Colorado! You just continue to outdo yourself.  Can’t wait for another summer of adventures with you.
